Waste Pickup

The Process

If you generate chemical waste, it must be collected and stored in a safe location, usually a designated Waste Hood. All containers must be clearly labeled to identify all waste contents. Store these waste containers with a closed cap and within secondary containment. When the container is full or you are ready to dispose of the waste, complete an online Hazardous Waste/Surplus Chemical Collection Request . To gain access to the Collection Request Form, you must first to be added to the approved users roster. Use this link to request to be added to the roster.

Once the EHS office receives your waste collection form, EHS staff will collect the waste and move it to a safe storage location for eventual disposal.

The EHS office also collects other Universal Wastes which are work related, such as used batteries or fluorescent light bulbs. They are recycled as part of the chemical waste program and you should use the same Hazardous Waste/Surplus Chemical Collection Request to have those items removed.

Batteries which are from personal use, such as a personal calculator, may be deposited for recycling at the AS Bookstore.
